MUW honors the six women who broke the color barrier at the school

SUMMARY: In 1966, six young women applied to enroll at the previously all-white Mississippi State College for Women. They faced resistance and difficult times during their time on campus, but never imagined that one day they would be honored for their bravery. Recently, a marker was placed in their honor in Pioneers Plaza, and an exhibition called In Their Footsteps tells the story of the first black students to attend the university. The community came together to celebrate and recognize the impact of these women.

Family of Dexter Wade rallies outside JPD nearly two years after his death
