Hyde-Smith leads charge in recognizing Gold Star Families Remembrance Week
SUMMARY: U.S. Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) and Rev. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) have introduced a bipartisan resolution designating Sept. 22-28 as Gold Star Families Remembrance Week, recently passed unanimously by the Senate. This week honors families who have lost loved ones in military service, symbolized by the Gold Star lapel button. Hyde-Smith emphasized the sacrifices of these families, calling them a profound reminder of the cost of freedom. The resolution, originally introduced in 2019, aligns with Gold Star Mother’s Day, observed on the last Sunday of September. The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors advocates for this recognition.
