Mississippi receives $420,000 for SNAP fraud prevention
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) Office of Inspector General has been awarded a grant of $421,471 to implement a framework to prevent and deter Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) fraud. The grant will be used to develop educational tools and materials to educate MDHS staff, SNAP applicants and recipients, and the general public on how to prevent, detect, and deter SNAP fraud. The training program will focus on common instances of fraud, such as card skimming/phishing and EBT card theft. The grant will help improve program operations and outcomes for SNAP in Mississippi.
