Election Pay Problems
SUMMARY: County poll managers in Hinds County, Mississippi are demanding payment for their work during the August primary and runoff elections. Despite the recent cyber attack on the county, a poll manager clarified that the election took place weeks before the attack. Around a thousand precinct managers have not been compensated for their 14-hour days, causing frustration among the workers. Election commissioners have pointed fingers at the Democratic and Republican parties for delays in paying the poll managers, but the clerk for the Board of Supervisors blames the commissioners for bureaucratic delays. The county may face difficulty staffing precincts for the upcoming general election in November if payment is not received soon. County election commissioners are working to ensure prompt payment for the poll managers. Additionally, the county was unable to rent space at New Horizon Church for poll manager training due to a lack of payment history.
