Hinds, Rankin counties receive pavement rehabilitation projects
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced two pavement rehabilitation projects in central Mississippi. In Rankin County, a project will involve the mill and overlay of 9.2 miles of U.S. Highway 49, along with repairs, widening of turn lanes, and guardrail upgrades. In Hinds County, the project calls for the mill and overlay of 11 miles of State Route 27, including repairs, drainage pipe repairs, and sign and guardrail replacements. The projects aim to improve safety and provide smoother rides for commuters. The contracts for both projects were awarded to APAC-Mississippi, Inc., with work scheduled to start soon.

Updates on worker who died in industrial accident

Jackson police arrest man accused of killing mother
SUMMARY: Jerry Banks, 42, has been arrested in Jackson, Mississippi, for the murder of his mother, 63-year-old Louise Banks Tornes.
