Columbus prepares to spend money on paving streets

2nd suspect arrested in shooting death of Alabama man at Mississippi bar

Mississippi deputies save 18-wheeler driver minutes before vehicle caught fire
SUMMARY: Two Rankin County deputies rescued an 18-wheeler driver moments before his vehicle caught fire on July 1. The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. on Interstate 20 after the truck veered off the road and crashed into a wooded area. Responding to the crash, the deputies, who were nearby on a criminal interdiction detail, managed to pull the driver to safety just before a fuel leak ignited the fire. The driver sustained serious injuries to his back and hip and was taken to a local hospital. Sheriff Bryan Bailey said the deputies will be recommended for a lifesaving award.
