Motorcyclists, officials discuss motorcycle safety amid Little Sturgis Rally
SUMMARY: The Little Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, Mississippi is a popular event that attracts visitors from around the country. However, August is known as the most dangerous month for motorcyclists, accounting for 14% of traffic fatalities. Riders and officials stress the importance of being a defensive and alert driver to ensure everyone’s safety on the roads. Motorcycles are smaller and faster than other vehicles, making it crucial for drivers to be aware of their surroundings. Many accidents occur at intersections and highways, and drivers need to give motorcycles enough space. It is also important for motorcycle riders to be hyperaware of their surroundings and to follow the rules of the road. According to Forbes, motorcycle riders are 28 times more likely to lose their lives in a crash compared to other vehicles.
