Election turnout low for primary election
SUMMARY: Despite mixed turnout numbers statewide, the Timber Lawn polling precinct has seen a surge in voters, with a turnout of over 20%. Some precincts in Rankin County have also reached a 20% turnout, while Hinds County has reported numbers around 10%. Secretary of State Michael Watson has confirmed ongoing cyber attacks against the state’s computer systems, originating primarily from Russia and China but also from other countries like Finland. However, no outside sources have accessed any information. Election officials in Mississippi are in contact with officials from Louisiana and Kentucky, who are experiencing similar cyber traffic. Voting at Timberline is still ongoing, with polls closing at 7 p.m. Those in line at closing time will still be allowed to vote. In Hinds County, there were some issues with the ballot scanning machine at precinct 46, causing voters to leave their ballots with others. Despite a few concerns, voter turnout in Hinds County has been high and people are glad to see it.
Statewide, voter turnout appears to be low for the primary election.

SUMMARY: Recent rainfall over the past 36 hours has been helpful, with Meridian receiving about 1.25 inches, and areas like Heidelberg seeing over 3 inches. Rain has now moved out, and skies are clearing. Temperatures will drop as a cold front moves through, with gusty winds expected tomorrow (25-35 mph). By Thursday morning, temperatures may dip into the mid to upper 30s, possibly leading to frost. Friday and Saturday could also bring frost with clear skies and lighter winds. The hurricane season has ended with 18 named storms, including 5 major hurricanes. The weekend looks clear, while next week could bring rain.

SUMMARY: The Conerly Trophy will be presented on December 3rd at the Sheraton in Flowood. As the MAIS high school football season concludes, the Tri-County Rebels aim for another state title under Coach Philip Wasson. With a perfect 10-0 record, the Rebels advanced to the finals after playoff victories against Centerville and Columbia Academy. They will face Bowling Green in the 4A state title game, having defeated the Buccaneers in last year’s championship. The game kicks off this Friday at 7 PM at Jackson Academy, showcasing the Rebels’ ongoing quest for back-to-back titles.
The Tri County Academy Rebels are back in the 4A MAIS State Championship game. This year they rematch against Bowling Green. After going 10-0 in the regular season the Rebels are in a good position to repeat. TCA head coach Philip Wasson says his senior class is used to having success at this level. TCA and Bowling Green meet at 7pm this Friday night at Jackson Academy.
