Columbus schools say they started year with fewer job openings

SUMMARY: Last year, the Columbus Municipal School District in Mississippi started the school year with 26 job vacancies. However, this year, Superintendent Dr. Stanley Ellis has worked to fully staff the district and improve its overall performance, with the goal of reaching a B rating. The district has filled all of its openings for school security and filled emergency hires for bus drivers. The main now is finding enough bus drivers. While the district is almost fully staffed, there are still a few teaching positions left to fill.
