SUMMARY: Six former officers, known as the Goon Squad, have pleaded guilty to 16 felonies, including civil rights violations, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice, in federal court. The brutalization occurred in Braxton, Mississippi, in January, where the officers burst into a home without a warrant. They tased, handcuffed, poured substances on the victims, used racial slurs, sexually assaulted them, and shot one in the mouth without giving medical attention. The officers also planted and tampered with evidence and created false cover stories. The sentencing for this case will take place in November. The officers include former Rankin County sheriff’s deputies and an ex-Ridgeland police officer.

Laurel adding 2 used fire trucks to fleet
