Look out for a former Brave on HBO’s Hard Knocks
SUMMARY: Former Alcorn State Braves linebacker Claude Charles has signed with the New York Jets and could be featured in the upcoming HBO documentary series, Hard Knocks. The show gives an inside look at the team’s training camp and highlights both star players and those trying to make the team, like Claude. He had an impressive record with the Braves, leading the team in tackles for loss and finishing in the top ten in the SWAC in tackles and sacks. Claude is the only HBCU player on the Jets, so fans should keep an eye out for him during the series.
Former Alcorn State linebacker Claudin Cherelus is an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets. The Jets will be featured on this year’s preseason football documentary series Hard Knocks by HBO. The show profiles star players, coaches and players striving to make the roster like Claudin. Claudin was second team All-SWAC and was top ten in sacks and tackles in his final year. Mississippi House Speaker Jason White talks about money issues facing the state

Netflix produces Tupelo-based crime documentary
SUMMARY: Tupelo, Mississippi, gained national attention in 2013 due to karate instructor James Everett Duskie’s bizarre crime. He pleaded guilty to sending ricin-laced letters to President Obama, Senator Roger Wicker, and Judge Stie Holland. An extensive FBI investigation revealed an email where Dusky expressed a desire to kill Steve Holland’s mother to hurt him more. The upcoming Netflix documentary titled “Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga,” showcasing this case and featuring Holland’s son, former State Representative Steve Holland, is set to release on December 11th.

Lamar County using grant to grow industrial park, create jobs
SUMMARY: Lamar County received a $50,000 State site development grant to enhance its industrial park, aiming to attract businesses and create jobs. The funds will be used for property surveys, construction planning, and land clearing. The park is one of three in Mississippi with over 20 developable acres, ready for use within six months or with utilities in place within a year. The county plans to develop a 52-acre site, including geotechnical work and infrastructure improvements like roads, utilities, and a rail spur.
