Mississippi offering cost-share program for wild hog trappers
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce (MDAC) is providing financial assistance to private land managers in Mississippi who are dealing with wild hogs on their property. Private landowners and leaseholders are eligible to apply for funding to purchase equipment used for trapping wild hogs. The goal is to provide one complete, remotely triggered trap for each applicant. Trap components such as cameras, gates, and panels are also eligible for funding. MDAC will reimburse the landowner or leaseholder for 50% of the cost of purchasing trapping equipment, up to a maximum of $5,000. Funding for this program is provided through a federal appropriation to MDAC.
