Feral cats an issue in Harrison County
SUMMARY: During a Harrison County Board of Supervisors meeting, a citizen expressed concern about the increasing population of feral cats in his and his neighbor’s yard. He had called the county’s Animal Control Officer to pick up one cat, but was informed that cats were not currently being accepted at the Humane Society. The citizen is now requesting the Board of Supervisors to revise their agreement with the Humane Society to address the issue. A non-profit organization called Fixing the Coast aims to control the feral cat population through trap and neutering, but they cannot fix the cats if they cannot be returned to the same area.
