State Auditor’s report shows majority of DEI funding used for university salaries

SUMMARY: A report from the State Auditor’s Office reveals that Mississippi public universities spend most of their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) funding on employee salaries. The report shows that between July 2019 and June 2023, universities in the state spent $23.4 million on DEI initiatives, with a 47% increase in self-reported expenditures in less than five years. In 2023 alone, 70% of DEI spending went towards employee salaries. State Auditor Shad White raised concerns about the lack of funding for scholarships and student aid and questioned the goals of DEI initiatives.

Meridian native Rodney Hood announces retirement from NBA

Long Beach amends lease to begin process for developing casino

Mississippi College, Delta State players earn postseason football honors
