Reeves signs bills aimed at stopping minors from accessing ‘sexually oriented’ content online

Governor Tate Reeves has signed two bills aimed at protecting children from accessing “sexually oriented” content online and in public schools.

Reeves gave his approval to Senate Bill 2346 and House Bill 1315 on Tuesday afternoon, stating he believes the bills will make it more difficult for children to access pornographic media online.

“With the rise of technology and social media, it has never been easier for children to access pornographic materials,” Reeves said. “That can have really disastrous effects on children’s long-term mental health and development.”

Man shot while helping with stalled vehicle in Jackson

SUMMARY: A man was shot in Jackson, Mississippi, while attempting to assist a person with a stalled vehicle on State Street at Beasley Road around 4:00 p.m. on November 20. Detective Tommie Brown reported that the victim was working on the vehicle when the suspect approached, questioned him, and then opened fire. The assailant fled the scene in a vehicle. Fortunately, the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
