Alcorn State falls to North Texas 69-53 in NIT first round
The season has come to an end for the Alcorn State men’s basketball team with the Braves falling to North Texas 69-53 in the opening round of the NIT.
After falling behind 8-2 to begin the game, Alcorn (18-4) went on an 8-0 run of their own to go up 10-8 with 14:39 left in the first half. Following a timeout from North Texas (27-7), the Mean Green retook the lead with 12:48 remaining in the period and would never let it go.
The Braves, coming off a regular season SWAC championship, were led by Dominic Brewton’s 14 points and two steals. Oddyst Walker added 11 points, while Dekedran Thorn had nine points and seven rebounds.
The Mean Green, who will face off against Sam Houston State in round two, was led by Tyler Perry’s 21 points.

Family of Dexter Wade rallies outside JPD nearly two years after his death

Man shot while helping with stalled vehicle in Jackson
SUMMARY: A man was shot in Jackson, Mississippi, while attempting to assist a person with a stalled vehicle on State Street at Beasley Road around 4:00 p.m. on November 20. Detective Tommie Brown reported that the victim was working on the vehicle when the suspect approached, questioned him, and then opened fire. The assailant fled the scene in a vehicle. Fortunately, the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The Jackson Police Department is seeking information about the incident and encourages anyone with details to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
