80-year-old woman in wheelchair dies after fire at Memphis senior living apartments
SUMMARY: A fire at Wesley Highland Meadows Apartments in Scenic Hills has resulted in one death. The Memphis Fire Department found a critically injured individual outside the unit when they arrived, who later died. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported. The fire caused significant heat damage to several apartments, prompting evacuation. Neighbors helped rescue a victim who was in cardiac arrest. As a precaution, fencing is being installed around the affected area, and residents from connected buildings are leaving but currently have no plans for temporary housing. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Tennessee residents, National Guard to play role in Trump inauguration
SUMMARY: Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, with many Tennesseans present in Washington, D.C. About 150 soldiers from the Tennessee National Guard traveled to support security during the event. Maj. Gen. Warner Ross expressed pride in the Guardsmen’s participation in this historic moment. Initially, the Stewarts Creek High School band was set to perform in the Inaugural Parade, which was canceled due to weather. However, they have since been invited to perform in a modified parade, and Principal Clark Harrell celebrated this opportunity for the students.

PM Weather(1/19): Wintry mix & snow showers takeover Sunday
SUMMARY: Snow showers are expected to continue through midnight, particularly in the higher elevations of the Smokies, with accumulation reaching up to 10 inches in some areas. Over the next three days, frigid temperatures will dip into the teens and single digits, with severe wind chills possibly feeling as low as -20°F, urging residents to wear multiple layers and accessories like hats and gloves. A winter storm warning and cold weather advisory are in place. While sunshine is expected tomorrow, temperatures will struggle to reach freezing until later in the week, with another weather system bringing rain over the weekend.
