Changes in this pattern are expected from early to mid next week, with higher chances of rain. No activity has been reported in the tropics due to dominating dry air and wind shear in the Atlantic Basin.

How to catch the Quadrantids, the first meteor shower of 2025
SUMMARY: The Quadrantid meteor shower will peak on Friday, offering the year’s first opportunity to see fireballs in the sky. Optimal viewing will occur under a waning crescent moon with minimal light interference. Named after a now-defunct constellation, the Quadrantids can produce up to 120 meteors per hour, primarily composed of debris from asteroid 2003 EH1. For the best experience, viewers should find dark locations during early predawn hours and avoid distractions. The Quadrantid viewing lasts until January 16, with the next meteor shower, the Lyrids, peaking in mid-April.
