SUMMARY: High school football returned to the Pine Belt on Thursday night, despite the heat. Wayne County entered the warzone at Oak Grove. Two big teams with big talent battled it out. On the first drive of the game, Oak Grove’s Chase Pinkston tackled Wayne County’s Demarion Malik-Odom out of bounds. The student section loved it. On the first play of the day for Oak Grove, AJ Maddox took a shot and hit Damari Jefferson for the first touchdown of the year. The Warriors led 7-0. Few drives later, the Warriors were in the redzone, and Maddox handed off to Jamar Pittman, resulting in another touchdown.
