8/24 – The Chief’s “When Will The OPPRESSIVE Heat End” Thursday Morning Forecast
SUMMARY: The central Gulf region is expecting another hot day as high pressure from the north continues. A subtle weakness across parts of the region this morning may result in isolated showers or storms in the afternoon. As we head towards the weekend, the high pressure will move across the high plains and into the desert southwest. Rising temperatures are expected to continue throughout the weekend due to dry soils. Towards the start of the working week, an incoming cold front could potentially bring rainfall, especially during peak heating hours on Monday and Tuesday.

Missouri, Kansas judges temporarily halt much of President Biden’s student debt forgiveness plan
SUMMARY: Federal judges in Kansas and Missouri have blocked significant portions of the Biden administration's student loan repayment plan, which aimed to expedite loan cancellation and reduce monthly payments for millions of borrowers. The rulings inhibit the U.S. Department of Education from helping many borrowers under regulations set to begin July 1. Kansas Judge Crabtree's ruling affects students with larger loans, while Missouri Judge Ross' ruling blocks the forgiveness of loan balances but permits lower monthly payments. Both judges argue that Education Secretary Miguel Cardona exceeded Congressional authority. The Biden administration plans to continue defending the program amidst legal challenges.
