8/1/24 – First Alert: Severe risk and more dangerous heat for Friday
SUMMARY: A tropical disturbance near Hispaniola is gaining attention as it moves over Cuba and potentially into the Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Forecast models suggest development is likely, with warm waters aiding its formation. The system may shift towards the Florida Panhandle, influenced by a trough associated with a cold front bringing rain. As August begins, extreme heat persists, with temperatures reaching 100ยฐF in July, now leading to a heat advisory. There’s also a low threat of severe weather, particularly damaging winds, as storms may arise on Friday night. Residents are advised to stay alert and download the weather app for updates.
