$766K for unfinished park project: KPRC 2 Investigates Houston Housing Authority
SUMMARY: Residents of CUNY Homes in Houston expressed disappointment over unfulfilled promises of neighborhood improvements made by the Houston Housing Authority (HHA). Despite paying over $766,000 for a landscape project meant to enhance the area, residents received inadequate upgrades—only concrete pads with screws remained. Investigative reporter Amy Davis sought answers, uncovering that the contractor, Elite Project Managers, was registered just two months before the contract. HHA CEO David Northern was unaware of the project’s incomplete status and declined further comment. Concerns are growing about misallocated taxpayer funds and the performance of HHA leadership, prompting a special board meeting for discussion.

The Houston Housing Authority provides housing and services to tens of thousands of low-income people and families in our city using mostly federal tax dollars. But some people are worried the money meant to pay for improvements to Houston housing developments may not be going where it is supposed to.
