The radar is clear, but showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon due to the heat. Temperatures are already in the mid-80s, with a heat advisory in effect until 7 PM for all six counties. Hurricane Barrel, downgraded from Category 5 to Category 1, has made landfall in Texas and will move north and east, bringing rain later this week. The 7-day forecast predicts continued hot and humid conditions with multiple chances for rainfall.

FIRST ALERT: Tropical Storm Milton forms in the Gulf Coast (10/05/2024)
SUMMARY: South Mississippi meteorologist Taylor Graham reports on Tropical Storm Milton, which developed earlier and is expected to strengthen significantly, potentially making landfall as a major hurricane on Florida’s west coast by Wednesday. Fortunately, Milton poses no threat to South Mississippi. The region will experience pleasant weather with low rain chances over the next week, highlighted by a cold front arriving Tuesday, bringing drier air and lower humidity, perfect for the Cruising the Coast event. While areas of Florida prepare for heavy rainfall and winds, South Mississippi looks forward to nice temperatures in the mid-80s and refreshing mornings.

Pumpkin Patch returns to Pascagoula, more than 1,000 pumpkins on display for purchase
SUMMARY: The First Methodist Church’s pumpkin patch is back for its third year, inviting the community to select from over 1,000 pumpkins of various shapes and sizes. Sourced from a farm in Greensboro, North Carolina, the pumpkins went on sale today. Proceeds will benefit a local mission at Trent Lot Academy to enhance students‘ academic performance. The pumpkin patch will be open from Monday to Saturday until Halloween.
A pumpkin patch in Pascagoula is back for the straight third year, and First Methodist Church is encouraging the community to “come get your pumpkin on.”

Diamondhead crew begins journey to deliver hurricane relief items to North Carolina
