SUMMARY: Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and frequent lightning will continue in the local area, but should clear by evening. The area will remain warm and humid, with more storms predicted for the following day. There is a Marginal Risk for flash flooding. Thunderstorm chances and high humidity will remain into the weekend, however there will be more sunshine and the weather patterns are expected to gradually change. SUMMARY: Mary Evelyn Jakubik, a junior at St. Patrick, helped her tennis team win their first-ever State Championship on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. After rediscovering her passion for tennis during the COVID years, Jakubik’s dedication paid off as she was selected for the prestigious Ozaki Cup and won numerous tournaments, including a mixed doubles State title as a freshman. The day after the team victory, she clinched the girls’ singles State Championship by overcoming a tough first set. Jakubik, a three-time State Champion, is now aiming to win a girls doubles title with her sister, Campbell, next year.

Litter becoming a growing problem in Stone County
