60-year-old man dead after car drove off roadway on Winchester Road in Lexington
SUMMARY: A deadly crash occurred this morning on Winchester Road in Lexington, resulting in the death of 60-year-old Mark Speaks. The single-vehicle accident happened around 7:30 AM when it appears Speaks ran off the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to blunt force trauma injuries. While his death has been ruled an accident, authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The driver of the vehicle who died in the car crash on Winchester Road has been identified.

Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown retiring to Old Friends Farm
SUMMARY: Old Friends Farm is welcoming the legendary racehorse Big Brown, the 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner, to its lineup of retired champions. Big Brown is the fifth horse of this caliber to retire at the farm, joining Silver Charm, War Emblem, Charismatic, and I’ll Have Another. To celebrate his arrival, Old Friends will host Big Brown’s Barn Bash on October 18th, featuring fun activities and a meet-and-greet with Big Brown. The event highlights the beauty and charm of these champion horses, reminiscent of the author’s experience seeing Go for Gin at the Kentucky Horse Park.
Big Brown, who won two of the three legs of the Triple Crown, is retiring and the farm is having a party with a chance to meet the guest of honor.

Kentucky sheriff accused of killing judge steps down from role
SUMMARY: Pete Rose has died at the age of 83. In Kentucky, Sheriff Mickey Stynes has retired amid serious allegations of murder, having been accused of killing Circuit Judge Kevin Mullins in his chambers during an arraignment last Wednesday. Stynes has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The governor previously urged Stynes to resign in a letter. The sheriff’s retirement is effective immediately, and he is scheduled to appear in court for the murder charges.
