HVAC technicians on call for service repairs as summer heat index rises
SUMMARY: Many are seeking relief from the heat by using air conditioning, causing HVAC technicians to work overtime. South Mississippi is experiencing triple-digit heat index numbers, leading homeowners to call for HVAC inspections. According to Dusy McDaniel of Foster Heating and Cooling, the common issues include failing capacitors, poor airflow, and deteriorating ductwork. Technicians are busy with appointments running late into the evening. They've found UV lights helpful for leaking coils. McDaniel stresses the importance of regular maintenance, such as cleaning coils and outdoor units, and advises homeowners to set their thermostats to 72-74°F for optimal performance during the summer.
Thousands of South Mississippians are turning to the air conditioning for some relief from those steamy temperatures.
