5PM Hurricane Francine Update
SUMMARY: Chief Meteorologist Eric Johnson reported that Hurricane Francine has made landfall in Terone Parish, Louisiana, as a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 100 mph. The storm’s eye is approaching Tabone Parish, about 30 miles south of Morgan City. The wind field extends 110 miles from the center, leading to gusts over 80 mph offshore. The hurricane is moving northeast at 17 mph, and southeastern Louisiana will continue to experience rain bands despite some weakening due to wind shear and dry air.
