5 guys rescued after being stranded in the Gulf — faith and this device saved their lives
SUMMARY: Five friends from Biloxi, Mississippi, went fishing 35-40 miles offshore when their boat sank due to engine failure. Easton Barrett, who recorded the incident, described how the boat was submerged by 9:30 AM, leaving them floating with only lifejackets and coolers. Using an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB), they alerted the Coast Guard after floating for over four hours. Despite initially being missed by rescuers, continuous signaling with the EPIRB eventually led to their rescue. The men were safely returned to shore, and Barrett emphasized the life-saving importance of an EPIRB on boats.

Disabled Marine veteran spending one week on a tower to raise money for wounded heroes – Home – WCBI TV
SUMMARY: Scott Burns, a double amputee Marine veteran, is spending seven days atop a 14-foot tower at the Mall at Barnes Crossing, raising funds for his nonprofit “7 Days for the Troops.” This year's donations will assist two local disabled veterans in Northeast Mississippi—one with home modifications and another with a tiny home. Burns established the nonprofit 18 years ago to support disabled veterans. Despite the heat, Burns says his sacrifice is minor compared to what troops endure overseas. Local businesses are also contributing through raffles. People can donate funds or volunteer time to support the cause.
