Biden vows to keep running as signs point to rapidly eroding support on Capitol Hill
SUMMARY: President Joe Biden remains resolute in running for reelection despite growing pressure from Democrats following a poor debate performance. Biden stated, “I am the leader of the Democratic Party. No one is pushing me out.” However, support among Democrats is waning, with Rep. Jim Clyburn proposing a “mini-primary” if Biden exits. Vice President Kamala Harris and Governors Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer are potential replacements. As Democrats express frustration, Biden and key aides stress the importance of focusing on governance.
