$4.6 million flood control project breaks ground in Long Beach
SUMMARY: Officials have announced that the commencement of a $4.6 million flood control project in Long Beach Harbor is not expected to significantly affect traffic. Residents have expresses that they have been awaiting this development, which is seen as a sign of brighter days ahead. Long Beach residents are hopeful for relief from major flooding issues affecting the area. Kyle Cason, a project co-owner, explained that current canals lack the capacity to manage stormwater effectively. The project which begins on November 13th, involves widening and deepening the canal to alleviate the problem. Minimal road closures are anticipated, mostly affecting a couple of side roads, with construction trucks being the primary sign of the work. The overall project is expected to take around 400 days to complete.
Long Beach residents can breathe a sigh of relief as the city’s long issues with flooding are soon to come to an end.
