2nd Jackson man pleads guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud

SUMMARY: Ronald Gardner, a Jackson man, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and aggravated identity theft. He and his co-conspirator, Anthony Craig Myrick, opened an account at BankPlus in another person’s name and deposited counterfeit United States Treasury checks. They then withdrew the cash before the checks were determined to be counterfeit. Gardner admitted to manufacturing the counterfeit Treasury checks and creating a false identification card using another person’s name and identity. They were indicted by a federal grand jury and face a maximum penalty of 32 years in prison. Myrick has pled guilty and will be sentenced, and Gardner is scheduled to be sentenced later.
