The Kemper County Sheriff’s Department began investigating her in October 2020 on charges of sexual battery and child pornography. Authorities struggled to find evidence until the FBI located a video of Hickman engaging in illicit acts with a minor and distributing it via social media. After being questioned, Hickman confessed to the crimes, claiming she sought payment but was never compensated. She was placed in jail with a $500,000 bond and is set to appear in court on March 17, 2025.

SUMMARY: Memphis community activist Joseph Kyles has been sentenced to four months of house arrest for his role in a bid-rigging scheme involving Cerissa Neal, former executive director of the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE). Kyles, along with Neal and others, was involved in scamming the government by inflating contract prices and creating false purchase orders. Kyles received over $200,000 in state payments but failed to perform the agreed services. Originally facing 12 charges, Kyles pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in illegal monetary transactions and will also serve two years of probation. Neal’s trial is still pending.
