2024 Drug Take Back Day held in Mississippi
SUMMARY: The DEA’s National Prescription Drug Takeback Day was held in partnership with the Hines County Sheriff’s Department, who set up a collection station at Walmart for people to drop off old prescription drugs. The goal of the event is to help people safely dispose of unnecessary medications to prevent misuse. In less than an hour, a garbage bag full of prescription drugs was collected. It was emphasized that keeping old prescriptions at home could pose risks for children, who might accidentally ingest them, or for thieves who could misuse them. Resources and treatment information can be found at dea.gov/takeback day.

After serving in Vietnam and working as a firefighter for 30 years, he was inspired by a neighbor to purchase an abandoned pecan orchard in 1999. With hard work and determination, Sanders revitalized the land and, along with his wife, established Lindy’s Pecans in 2016. Despite challenges like droughts, Sanders has become a prominent figure in the pecan industry, sharing his knowledge and honoring his family’s history, while fostering the next generation of farmers.
