2 people killed in separate shootings in Miami_Dade
SUMMARY: Miami police are investigating two overnight shootings that left two men dead and another injured. One shooting occurred near the Tropicana Bar and Lounge on Northwest 79th Street. Authorities received a shot spotter alert just before 5:30 AM and found a man shot dead at the scene. Another man, who was also shot, was taken to a local hospital and is now in stable condition. 'Parents, do your job': Volusia Sheriff fed up with hoax school threats
SUMMARY: Captain Todd Smith from the Sheriff’s Office expressed grave concern over the escalating number of false threat reports in Volusia County schools, with 54 tips received in one night alone. So far this year, 207 threats have been logged, leading to multiple arrests and significant costs for investigations. Emphasizing the importance of community involvement, he noted that collaboration between parents and law enforcement is crucial for maintaining a safe educational environment.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood has strong words for parents and students after his department has seen an increase in bogus school shooting threats. “Parents, do your job,” Sheriff Chitwood said. He said his school has spent thousands of dollars investigation potential social media threats targeting schools, some that turned out to be jokes. Some students have been arrested and charged. Sheriff Chitwood threatened if he finds out a parent knew about their student’s alleged threats and did nothing about it, he’ll arrest them and perp walk them alongside their child.

3 dead after multi-vehicle crash on eastbound lanes of I-595
