18-year-old Rogers man arrested after chasing kids with machete
SUMMARY: Waylon Kumpe was arrested in Rogers for allegedly chasing children while wielding a machete. The incident began outside Casey’s on South 8th Street, where kids reported that Kumpe began to follow them on his bike, yelling threats and raising the machete overhead. After escaping into a Walmart parking lot, police found Kumpe at Casey’s with the machete in his backpack. He faces two counts of aggravated assault and one count of endangering a minor. Kumpe has a prior burglary charge, with a recent misdemeanor theft charge conditioned on staying out of trouble. He is held in Benton County Jail on $10,000 bail.

Cooks face off in World Champion Squirrel Cook Off

Father and son reunite after dramatic lifesaving rescue
SUMMARY: In a heartwarming reunion, Devon Gardner embraced his stepson Jordan after a life-saving incident during a road trip. In late July, their vehicle crashed in Franklin County, and 12-year-old Jordan bravely walked two miles across the interstate at night to seek help, ultimately saving Devon’s life. The special moment at the Eugene Tobin Healthcare Center in North Little Rock marked their first meeting since the accident where Devon was well enough to get out of bed. Jordan’s courage was celebrated with a certificate and medal from the hospital staff, making his mother, Trisha, immensely proud.
On July 27, 12-year-old Jordan walked two miles in the dark to find help after a crash in Franklin County. His bravery saved his stepdad’s life.

Decatur BBQ Fest
