SUMMARY: A gas leak explosion near Highway 6 and County Road 660 in Lee County has resulted in the closure of several restaurants and impacted about 20,000 customers. It occurred Wednesday morning while workers attempted a gas leak repair, injuring at least two individuals whose conditions remain unknown. Lee County Supervisor Barry Parker reported that the explosion forcibly removed the workers’ clothing. Crews are currently shutting off gas at customer meters for safety checks and repairs, but full utility restoration will take time.
