10-year-old taken to jail in Mississippi for urinating in public
SUMMARY: A 10-year-old boy in Senatobia, Mississippi was taken to jail for urinating in public. The incident occurred in a parking lot across from the county courthouse. The boy was taken to the police station to complete paperwork for a Youth Court Referral, but was not handcuffed. The police chief acknowledged that it was an error in judgement to transport the child to the station since the mother was present. The lawyer’s office where the incident occurred witnessed several police cruisers called to the scene. The mother was later held in jail for contempt of court.
