SUMMARY: Good evening, South Mississippi! Tropical Storm Oscar, previously a Category 1 hurricane, has made landfall in Cuba and is forecasted to move north while weakening. Nadine has dissipated. A high-pressure system is bringing dry and calm weather to the area, with temperatures in the mid-50s tonight and warming into the lower 80s tomorrow. Light northerly winds are contributing to the dry conditions. As the week progresses, expect temperatures to rise into the mid-80s before a cold front arrives Friday, which may slightly cool temperatures but won’t significantly impact the pleasant weather for outdoor activities.

HCSO: Investigators identify dead newborn found on I-10 in 1993
SUMMARY: New developments have emerged in a nearly 30-year-old cold case involving the identification of a newborn found dead in Gulfport in 1993. The baby, originally known as Mary Josephine, was deemed a homicide victim and buried at Floral Hills Memorial Garden. Last year, authorities exhumed her body for DNA analysis, leading to the identification of her relatives. Investigators subsequently sought a DNA comparison with a woman believed to be Mary’s mother, but upon executing a warrant at her home, they discovered she had died by suicide, leaving a letter claiming her connection to Mary.
On December 21, 1993, a newborn baby was found dead on I-10 near the Lorraine Road exit in Gulfport.

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church provides lunch for Ocean Springs first responders
