CCID expansion goes into effect

SUMMARY: The expansion of the Capitol Complex Improvement District (CCID) in Jackson, effective today, includes changes to 911 call handling and police patrols. The expansion began on July 1, giving state officers more responsibilities in a larger portion of Jackson. Capitol Police now have primary responsibility for calls in the CCID, with the city's dispatch center routing 911 calls to them until the state's own center is operational. Both city and state agencies are establishing Memorandums of Understanding. They aim to maintain a four-minute response time for emergencies.
