William Carey campus bookstore damaged by fire
SUMMARY: Tonight, William Cary University is clear after a fire broke out earlier at McMillan Hall, home to the IT department, a bookstore, and a gift shop. Crews responded to calls about heavy smoke this afternoon. Hattiesburg firefighters quickly contained the fire, limiting it to the building's rear, preventing major damage to the technology side. There is some fire, smoke, and water damage, primarily in the bookstore area. University leaders expressed gratitude for the swift response and fortunately, no injuries were reported. The duration for cleanup and repairs to the damaged areas has yet to be determined.
