U.S. Coast Guard rescues two stranded boaters off Mississippi coast

SUMMARY: The Coast Guard rescued two boaters separated from their vessel near Horn Island, Mississippi, on Monday. At around 10:00 AM, a call was received about a 14-foot aluminum boat drifting in the area. Upon investigation, crews discovered the boat’s owner and a friend had been stranded on the island overnight. A helicopter was deployed for the search, and upon locating the individuals, rescue teams landed on the beach, assisted them onto the helicopter, and transported them to Gulfport–Biloxi International Airport.
