Starkville may become new base for medical helicopter
SUMMARY: Air ambulances save lives, with over 550,000 patients using them annually. Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill is working to make the city a base for a medical helicopter. Collaborating with Mississippi State University, they seek grants from the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Mississippi Department of Transportation to build a hangar at George Bryan Airport. This move would shift the helicopter's base from Golden Triangle Regional Airport, benefiting regional emergency services. Job creation and local economic benefits are anticipated. The grants await approval, and updates will follow. For more news, follow WCBI on Facebook and X.
