Ashley Lightcap's hit led to another run for the Choctaws. The team played a complete game and appreciated the support from fans. Bailey mentioned that the cheering fans motivated them to play harder and give their best on the field. It was a successful start to the regional championship for the Choctaws.

The Mississippi College softball team started the Clinton Regional in the NCAA Division II Tournament with a 6-1 win over West Alabama. The Choctaws are hosting a postseason regional for the first time in program history.
