Rebecca Karl named 2023 State Queen by TOPS

Work on Beachview Bridge paused to move water, sewer lines
SUMMARY: Much-needed repairs to the Beach View Drive bridge in Gulf Park Estates are delayed until water and sewer lines are moved. The bridge is currently suitable for cars and SUVs but not for large school buses and trucks. County road crews are ready to reinforce the bridge, but a private utility company must first relocate the attached water and sewer mains. Jackson County Supervisor Randy Bosar noted challenges due to the utility's recent change in ownership. The bridge will eventually be rebuilt as part of a widening plan for Gulf View Drive, with the first phase beginning soon. The construction contract may be awarded at Monday's board meeting.

Happening June 29: Fourth of July Jubilee
SUMMARY: The Gulf Coast is gearing up for July 4th celebrations. Long Beach's festivities start at 11:00 AM with a festival featuring local artists, vendors, and free kids' activities like water balloon fights, a dunk booth, and arts and crafts. A parade at 6:00 PM will feature local veterans, military representatives, Mayor, and Aldermen. The Grand Marshal will be Colonel Rob Enix. At 7:00 PM, a block party will shut down Jeff Davis Avenue for attendees to enjoy with lawn chairs and blankets. Fireworks will begin at 8:30 PM. Participation in the parade is open to all, with walkers, golf carts, lawnmowers, and military vehicles.
