River Bridge nearing completion
SUMMARY: The River Avenue Bridge project, expected to be completed today, has seen progress but faces another delay due to difficulties with guard rail pouring. Construction company TL Wallace has fixed the issue, with crews now working on finishing the bridge's deck. Sidewalk sections have been poured and overhang forms removed. Next steps include grading, SE area work, and finishing the bridge deck. No completion date is given, with grinding needed determining the time required. A small portion of South Main Street will remain closed for two to three months after the bridge opens. Progress updates are available on the Forest County Board of Supervisors' Facebook page.

New Horizon selling church and moving to Wingfield High School
SUMMARY: New Horizon Church International has announced plans to purchase Wingfield High School from the Jackson Public School District and make it their next church home. The church decided to sell their current location on Ellis Avenue, which was formerly a grocery store, after being there for 15 years. Bishop Ronnie Crudup Sr. mentioned that they hope to revitalize the shopping center and bring retail and commercial businesses back to South Jackson. The Jackson Public School District is closing Wingfield and other school buildings due to declining enrollment, but specific proposals related to the sale have not yet been introduced, evaluated, or approved.
