Alabama man wanted for murder in Oklahoma captured in Arkansas
SUMMARY: At noon, Arkansas State Police arrested Stacy Lee Drake in Morlon, Arkansas, about 50 miles from Little Rock. Drake was wanted for three murders: two during a car theft in Oklahoma, and one in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He is currently detained at the Conway County Detention Center.
Authorities captured Stacy Drake at approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday in a wooded area in Morrilton, Arkansas State Police announced.

5 charged in drive-by shooting
SUMMARY: Five men have been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting in Claiborne County on May 27th. Darius Johnson, Jeremiah Jackson, and a juvenile were apprehended by deputies, while Jamarcus Hamlin and Aaron Simmons were already facing aggravated assault charges. The Claiborne County Sheriff's Office is handling the case.

New laws go into effect July 1
SUMMARY: Starting Monday, the jurisdiction of the CCID is significantly expanding, encompassing more areas in Jackson, including Jackson State University. On July 1st of next year, it will further expand to parts of Northeast Jackson. Almost half of the laws passed by the state legislature this year take effect on July 1st, impacting law enforcement with pay scale changes and the creation of new felonies, including those related to machine gun conversion devices, sexual extortion, and motor vehicle theft. A new 60-day presumptive Medicaid eligibility for pregnant women is also introduced. Additionally, public education funding will switch to the Mississippi Student Funding Formula, providing base and additional funds per student.
More than 170 new laws go into effect July 1 in Mississippi.
